Na-Ima-Sthae at Home

I feel like it's only fitting to follow up with my blog post last week about how I was straight up struggling. I think it's important to note that this week was stressful in different ways, but I stuck to my last words last week. I was strict about staying on my homework schedule, and feel like I put a great amount of effort into my writings this week. However, I do think I'll have to revise my week 5 story to make it fit the style of my portfolio. Pinterest To sum up this week past week, I quit. Now I know you're probably wondering, "what did you quit?". Well, I quit caring about making people happy, saying yes to things when I really wanted to say no, taking on all of the internship responsibilities alone, and I quit hiding my stress. If that wasn't already enough things to quit, I'm ending my week of quitting by writing my letter of resignation to quit my job. At first I was afraid to quit everything, but I'm not happy and I know it'...

Keep moving forward. It sounds simple, but sometimes it's more difficult than you would think to have this mindset. This phrase became my life motto when I first saw the Disney movie Meet The Robinons. It played as the same theme through out the film, and reminded me that when I fail I should keep moving forward and not dwell on the failure. When you dwell on your failures you aren't learning how to move forward from them! So let them go, and move on! 

After finishing the film I was just sad. It was one thing to read the story of Rama and Sita, but another thing to watch it! There are so many things that I would have changed about the ending of the film. 1) I would have had Sita jump on Hanuman's back instead of causing Rama to kill hundreds of people (like the storytellers suggested). She didn't need revenge, she should have just been content with getting away from Ravana! 2) Rama would never have questioned her purity as much as he did, nor would he have banished her! I understand Sita loved him and was devoted to him, but that was crap and she shouldn't have put up with it. 3) I would have ended the story with Rama and Sita, and the cartoon characters actually living happily ever after! You may have thought that was the end of this fairytale, and that they would all live happily ever after, but the story is just beginning. Every good Princess Fairytale always has to have an evil stepmother, and there is indeed one in this story. When Ellie was younger, her mom got terribly sick and passed away. Just like any father, the King did not want Ellie to grow up without a mother, so he married Jezzabelle. Jezzabelle was not the worst person in the world, but she had a lot of hate stored in her heart towards Ellie. The king’s had no room in his heart to love anyone equally or more than he loved his daughter and first wife, and Jezzabelle knew it. When the King asked for her hand in marriage she said she would only marry him if he agreed to strip Ellie of her royalty if she ever got married. I enjoyed the first half of Sita Sings The Blues! It was very interesting to see a film tell a story from 3 different perspectives. At first the 3 different cartoon designs really threw me off, but then I realized it was because it was different for each perspective. My favorite perspective was definitely from the storytellers. They had small hints of humor while they told the story, and also simplified it way more than the actual Ramayana we read. They only told the parts that really mattered, and then sometimes they would put in a fun fact. I think one of my favorite parts overall was how simplified the Ramayana was that you could still follow the story well even when she was singing a song that only talked about how much she loved Rama. If I were to change anything about this particular video I  probably would have kept it from the story tellers point of view, and used the cartoony design for all of the characters instead of switching back and forth.
