Time Management

Image
I'm sad to admit that I once was the person that would say "I'm just too busy". It was honestly the perfect excuse to use when people asked me to do something I didn't really want, because they knew how jam packed my schedule was. If they didn't believe me I always had my agenda close by to show them my schedule including work, class, volunteering, and interning. The thing is, I wasn't controlling my schedule. My schedule was controlling me. I didn't know how to utilize the power of saying no and was always fearful of disappointing the person on the receiving end, so I did everything. Once I realized that, I took time to research articles about time management, and found one similar to The Myth of "Too Busy" . So I sat down and wrote out a list of things I have to do, things I needed to do, and then filled in my free time. Now when someone asks me to do something I run through my list, and if it is below another priority I need to get done I ...

Tick, Tech(nology), Toe

The title of my post literally means nothing, besides that I have no life and thought that was really funny and clever 😂 (I just found the emojis on this thing. #gamechanger). Blogging, bookmarking, graphic creations, and audio recordings are all things I'm super familiar with. I have my own personal blog that I post to every now and again, I bookmark websites on the daily, memes help visually express my reactions, and I've had to use audio recordings for other classes! Though none of the technology is really new for me, I am excited to further my skills with them. I haven't used the new Google Sites before, so I'm really looking forward to learning more about that! This is however the first class I've ever needed all of them for which makes is pretty cool! The layout of this class allows for a lot of creativity, and I love it! ( Spongebob & Patrick )

Class Assignments Review

Image
Wow! This class is so unique, and full of lots of opportunities to learn about things outside the topic of "India epics". I am really excited about the reading for this class so I can learn more about Indian culture, India has always fascinated me! Tuning into my creative side will also be something that I enjoy through the storybook project. I think the last time I was able to write a creative story was my Junior year of high school when I took the Texas State English test TAKS. I loved reading all the examples from the storybook archives, and have been thinking of how I want to do my own storybook project! ( MinionMemes ) The meme I provided perfectly sums up how I view most homework, but I'm actually really excited about these assignments! ( imgflip )

Growth Mindset

Image
Sylvia Duckworth Before this assignment I had never heard of Carol Dweck nor the specific term "growth mindset". Even Though I hadn't heard of the term, the overall idea of praising the process and not the answer is something I have heard before. I remember in high school I was terrible at math, and I would always have to go to tutoring. My teacher would always encourage me and tell me I was doing well when I was getting answers wrong, and I really didn't understand that because for me I thought I deserved praise only if I got the question right. But I realize now that she was praising the process and my dedication to try to get it right, and that she cared more about that than getting the answer right.  I would have to say academically I lean towards the more fixed mindset, but not because that's what I want, but because I know that's the mindset for the majority of my professors. I think I naturally believe in the growth mindset. I get frustrated w...

Introduction

Image
Hello there!! My name is Briana (Bri-aw-nuh), but to keep it simple you can call me Bri! I am an Entrepreneurship Major, and I LOVE it. The way I love to describe my major is that its the "fun" business major. It's all about being creative, thinking outside the box, and solving problems in the real world through a product or service! Its collaborative friendly and encourages team work for pretty much every assignment. I went into my major blindly, but I can't imagine studying anything else.  Since we just got done with summer break I think a lot of who I am is summed up by what I did this summer! I got the amazing opportunity to live in the mountains of Colorado investing into the lives of 16 year olds while walking through scripture with them. I basically got paid to pretend like I was in high school again, and got to do fun things like hike, zip-line, bowl, and so many other things. To change things up a bit I'll provide my summer video that I compiled!...

Storybook Favorites

Image
The First Meeting https://sites.google.com/site/talesofstrengthandstruggles/the-first-meeting ( Wikimedia ) My first favorite storybook would have to be The First Meeting. The stories of Sita and Ahalya are not ones that I'm particularly familiar with, but I am typically intrigued by stories of strength and struggles. I specifically like that the author took a spin on the two tales to tell them from the perspective of Sita and Ahalya. The introduction of The First Meeting sets up the rest of the story very well. From the very beginning you are introduced to all the characters, and the reasoning behind telling the story. The introduction does a very great job at catching the readers attention from the get go, and leaving them wanting to read more. The navigation of the blog is very straight forward, and easy for users. The background used on the site wasn't overwhelming, and I loved how there was an ombre type effect to keep the simplicity of the website.  Bed Time ...

Keller, Sky Ranch, Victory Family Church... Just a few of my favorite places :)

Image
I decided to pick three places that have shaped me into who I am, thus making them my favorite!  Victory Family Church:  VFC was the first church I visited my freshman year at OU, and after I knew it was "home". So much of my college career has consisted of me being a part of this amazing community. Recently I have taken an intern position with their college ministry, which allowed me to tie in two of my favorite things, Jesus and OU! I spend most of my free time up at the church hanging out with my friends and helping out where I can. Its my "home away from home". This is a picture of my friend Madison and I serving Coffee on OU's campus to invite people to our college ministry!  Keller, Tx : Once ranked the 7th best place to live in the US, Keller is where I have lived my whole life! I have made so many great memories there, and every time I go home I make even more. One of the funniest memories I have has to do with the picture below! I have provi...
