Famous Last Words: Time Flies

Image
"Time flies when you're having fun!" That statement has never seemed more true to me than this past week. After the craziness of my Monday and Tuesday (midterms and presentations), I took a couple of days just to have fun. So far this semester I haven't had the most fun because I had such a strict schedule when I was working, interning, and volunteering. A few weeks ago I quit my job, and I've had a little more time to do things that I enjoy. I get to spend more time with my boyfriend, sleep in, make my own meals, and go to bed at a more decent hour! This weekend was definitely proof that time does really fly when you're having fun! My best friend of 15 years got married and I was able to ditch reality for 2 days to go be a part of her big day. Before I knew it, the night was over and all that was left was   my wilted flower crown and these pictures to prove the night was indeed a fun time.   My famous last words for reader's is to remember that th...

Reading Notes: Karmic Revolution, Part B

Son of the Sun : I really liked this story. I think it could be interesting to see if there is a way to incorporate her gift to summon any god into a fairytale. It kind of made me think of being able to summon a fairygod mother. If I decide to continue adding to the sleeping beauty story, I may be able to use this! One Hundred Sons : With the darkness in this story I really felt like I could use this part of the Mahabharata for the evil witch in my sleeping beauty story to get her revenge on the king! I'm not really sure what that would look like, but I think it could make for an interesting story! Evil Minions

I really enjoyed part A of the film. I remember struggling through the Mahabharata last week, but now that I'm watching this video I'm understanding it a little better. Satyavati's Secret : I was really intrigued by the story of Vyasa impregnating the three different women, and him foretelling what the sons would turn out as because of their reactions. I think this story could be one that would be able to be retold as a fairytale pretty easily. I also loved the underlying tone of not judging a book by its cover, it really reminds me of Beauty and the Beast! I'm not sure If I could make the story work, but I'm up for giving it a shot. The Blind Bride : A second story from the video that I liked was of the Bride who gave up her sight for the king. I think it is a beautiful, selfless act and I would love to try to incorporate something similar into one of my stories. Overall, I found the videos super helpful for simplifying the Mahabharata's stories for the...
