Time Management
I'm sad to admit that I once was the person that would say "I'm just too busy". It was honestly the perfect excuse to use when people asked me to do something I didn't really want, because they knew how jam packed my schedule was. If they didn't believe me I always had my agenda close by to show them my schedule including work, class, volunteering, and interning. The thing is, I wasn't controlling my schedule. My schedule was controlling me. I didn't know how to utilize the power of saying no and was always fearful of disappointing the person on the receiving end, so I did everything. Once I realized that, I took time to research articles about time management, and found one similar to The Myth of "Too Busy". So I sat down and wrote out a list of things I have to do, things I needed to do, and then filled in my free time. Now when someone asks me to do something I run through my list, and if it is below another priority I need to get done I say no, and no longer feel guilty for doing so!
This semester I'm taking 9 hours online and 9 hours on campus, which will require lots of prioritizing not only so I can finish the work, but so I can finish it well. So the time management tips I read in both The Myth of Too Busy, and the Psychology of Checklist will be ones I don't only apply in this class, but in all my classes. I'm a type A person which means Checklist are the best way to keep me focused and motivated, so once I read about Trello I went straight to the website and created an account. I cannot wait to start earning my green completed boxes!
