Topic Brainstorm

After some research I narrowed my project ideas to 4 options!

  • The god's/devas
    • Being a Christian always leaves me interested in learning more about other gods/deities out there. I think this project will be a perfect way to learn more about the Hindu religion since so many of their gods are portrayed throughout all the stories. I took a Non-Western dance course here at OU a couple of years ago, and when we learned about India we also had to learn about their religion! We didn't cover enough information for me to learn as much as I would have liked, so I would love to have a project centered around the idea of someone exploring the god's, their stories, and how they differ from one another. It would probably be best to tell the story from a 3rd person point of view in order to convey the comparing and contrasting I would love to do!
  • Music
    • I love music! You don't have to know what the singer is saying to enjoy a song, you can still be moved by music simply through all of the instruments used. Music styles are different in every country, and I would love to explore India's! I would love to have a project centered around the music/instruments used through out the epics and their part played in the stories.
  • Food/Culture
    • India has always fascinated me, and I have always wanted to learn more about their culture. I think it would be so much fun to have a project about the food through out the epics and maybe festivals or traditions that come into play. I assume most of their traditions and festivals have to do with stories of their gods, so I think I could orchestrate a project to tie together all of these things. Then if I had time in my week I could always try to make the Indian food I talk about in my blog and provide a recipe!
  • Traveling India
    • This might be the best project idea for my to pursue, because through it I can include food, music, and research about the Hindu gods depending on where my character "travels". Then as my character 'travels' through India and it's culture, I can be exploring through them!

  1. Hey Briana!
It sounds like you have really founds some good topics to go over. The Gods and Devas would be a cool one, I just commented on another project post, Ruben, where he chose to do Gods an Devas, but your path for the story is very different! I like the analytical approach to the Gods and Devas.
Music would also be a very interesting topic to go with. It would give you a lot of liberty since the majority of the coursework is reading you could read between the lines and guess what the epics would have sounded like.
Food and culture strikes me as my favorite and would as be very unique, much like the traveling India. It sounds like you will have a hard time deciding which one to choose!
